Fresh Kale Apple

Crisp, refreshing, and oh-so-good-for-you—this kale juice spin on lemonade might just be the best thing you can put in your body.

I’ve been drinking it every day for the past week and have noticed a visible improvement in my skin, mood, and energy levels. It’s great for detox juice cleanses or if you’re simply interested in juicing and looking for a recipe to start.

This kale juice recipe is super hydrating, incredibly nutrient-dense, and even tastes delicious—especially because of the lemon juice and apple juice.

What are the benefits of drinking kale juice? The benefits of drinking kale juice include:

  • Clearer skin
  • Healthier-looking hair
  • Better mood
  • Increased energy
  • Immune system boost
  • Antioxidants
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Gluten-free
  • Essential vitamins and minerals

A lot of the juice benefits come from the kale, which contains many nutrients, like:

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin K
  • Calcium
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Omega-3 fatty acids

I like to drink kale juice in the morning to jumpstart my metabolism in a healthy way. But you can have kale juice with any meal, and your body will thank you.

Drink it often to “aid” with your health and wellness goals. This yummy, healthy green juice is a superfood you won’t want to miss out on.

What Types Of Kale Are There?

There are several types of kale, the most common of which are:

  • Common curly kale
  • Ornamental kale
  • Redbor kale
  • Red Russian kale
  • Siberian kale
  • Chinese kale (AKA Chinese broccoli, kailan, or gai lan)
  • Lacinato kale (AKA Tuscan kale, dinosaur kale, black cabbage, Cavolo Nero)

For this recipe, common curly kale is the preferred kale to use, but you can experiment with different types of kale.

How do you juice kale?

You juice kale by pushing it in small amounts through a juicer. However, it is much easier to juice kale with a mechanical juicer than a manual hand juicer.

Some recipes call for additional carrot juice or cucumber juice, but I find these unnecessary. You can definitely experiment with this recipe to make it your own, but don’t buy extra veggies and fruit juices that will empty your wallet for no reason.

For curious minds, my juicer of choice is a ‎Breville Multispeed Juice Fountain. I find it produces the most juice from leafy greens while still being relatively affordable.

How much kale juice should I drink a day? You should drink 1 or 2 kale juices a day. You only need 3-4 servings of kale a week to get the health benefits. This recipe yields almost half of your daily fiber, so 2 a day is probably a good max.

For the rest of the day, I recommend sticking to water or unsweetened green tea. If you drink a kale juice, then a Pepsi, it’s like eating a bunch of kale, then a heap of sugar. Beverages are often a hidden source of calories, so choose ones that are good for you.

What is the difference between kale and spinach? The difference between kale and spinach is that kale belongs to the cabbage family, while spinach belongs to the amaranth family.

Spinach and kale also contain different nutrients. Kale contains more vitamin K, calcium, and vitamin C. Spinach contains more potassium, iron, magnesium, zinc, folate, vitamins A, and vitamin E.

Kale-Aid Kale Juice Recipe

  • Author:
    Healing Picks

  • Prep Time:
    5 mins

  • Total Time:
    5 mins

  • Yield:
    12 servings 1x

  • 5 large fresh kale leaves
  • 12 large cucumbers
  • 1 lemon (peeled)
  • 1 apple
  • 1-inch knob of ginger (peeled)
  • 12 large ribs celery

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare all produce. Use organic produce whenever possible.
  2. Push through a juicer.
  3. Serve immediately over ice.

Notes

Always peel citrus before putting it through an electric juicer as the peel is highly concentrated in essential oils. The juicer concentrates them into the juice, which can cause severe digestive pains or upset. Either peel the citrus, or squeeze the citrus juice in at the end leaving the peel out.
