If you’re not a Verizon customer, you can stop reading this post right now. But if you are a Verizon customer and would like to know how to turn off 5Ge, read on!
5Ge is Verizon’s new “network enhancement” that promises faster speeds and more reliable connections.
However, many customers have reported that 5Ge is actually slower than LTE, and some have even had their data usage throttled. The good news is that you can easily turn off 5Ge on your Verizon device.
How to Disable 5G on an iPhone

Turn off 5Ge Samsung
If you’re like most Samsung users, you probably have 5Ge enabled on your phone. But what is 5Ge and should you turn it off?
5G Evolution (or 5GE) is a network technology that offers faster speeds and improved performance over 4G LTE.
It’s available on select Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S10, S9, and Note 9. So should you disable 5GE on your Samsung phone? The answer isn’t clear cut.
While 5GE can offer slightly faster speeds and better performance, it’s not a true 5G network. In fact, some experts believe that 5GE could actually slow down your phone’s data speeds in certain situations. For now, we recommend leaving 5GE turned on if you have a compatible Samsung phone.
But if you start to experience slower speeds or poorer performance, feel free to disable it and see if that helps.
Turn off 5Ge Iphone 11
If you have an iPhone 11, you may have noticed a new icon in the upper-left corner of your screen. That’s the “5G” indicator, letting you know that your phone is connected to a 5G network. But what is 5G, and should you turn it off?
Here’s what you need to know about 5G on your iPhone 11. What is 5G? 5G is the next generation of wireless technology, offering faster speeds and more reliable connections than 4G LTE.
It’s still in its early days, but eventually, 5G will become the standard for all wireless networks. Should I turn off 5G on my iPhone 11? For now, there’s no need to turn off 5G on your iPhone 11.
In fact, it’s probably best to leave it turned on so that you can take advantage of any available 5G networks. That said, if you’re having trouble with connectivity or battery life, turning off 5G may help improve things. To do so:
1. Open the Settings app and tap Cellular. 2. Tap Cellular Data Options (or Cellular Data Network for some carriers). 3. Tap the toggle switch next to Enable LTE or Enable 4GLTE (depending on your carrier).
This will turn off both 4G and 5GE data connections for cellular data usage; however, you’ll still be able to connect to Wi-Fi networks as usual..
How to Turn off 5Ge At&T
If you’re an AT&T customer with a 5G-compatible device, you may have noticed a new “5G E” icon appearing in your status bar. This stands for 5G Evolution, and it’s AT&T’s way of marketing its slightly-faster-than-LTE network to customers. But if you’re not interested in paying extra for a minimal speed boost, or if you live in an area where 5GE isn’t available, there’s an easy way to disable the feature.
Here’s how to turn off 5GE on your AT&T phone: Open the Settings app on your phone. Tap Cellular.
Tap Cellular Data Options. Tap Enable LTE. Select Off from the three options that appear.
With this setting disabled, your phone will no longer connect to AT&T’s 5GE network (or any other LTE network). You’ll still be able to use 3G and 4G data speeds, but your connection will be slower than it could be.
Why is 5Ge So Slow
In the early days of 5G, there were some pretty big promises made about its potential speeds. Some said that it would be able to achieve speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps). But so far, actual 5G speeds have been a lot slower than that.
One reason for this is that the millimeter waves (mmWave) that are used for 5G haven’t been rolled out very widely yet. They’ve mostly only been deployed in major cities, and even then, only in certain areas. So if you’re not in one of those areas, you’re not going to get the super-fast speeds that mmWave can provide.
Another reason is that most phones that are capable of using 5G right now are only using sub-6 GHz frequencies. And while those frequencies are still faster than 4G LTE, they’re not as fast as mmWave. So why are carriers and phone makers deploying 5G using sub-6 GHz frequencies instead of mmWave?
Well, it’s because sub-6 GHz frequencies have much better coverage than mmWave. So even though the speeds aren’t as high, more people will be able to access them. As time goes on and more carriers roll out mmWave networks and more phones support them, we should start to see 5G speeds increase dramatically.
But for now, if you’re looking for lightning-fast download and upload speeds, you’ll probably be disappointed with 5G.
How to Turn off 5Ge on Iphone Xr
If you’re not a fan of 5G or just want to conserve battery life on your new iPhone Xr, here’s how to turn off 5Ge. Note that this will only disable the 5G connection on your device- it won’t actually remove the 5G antenna or equipment from your phone.
To turn off 5Ge on your iPhone:
1. Open the Settings app and tap Cellular. 2. Tap Cellular Data Options. 3. Tap Voice & Data.
4. Select 4G LTE instead of 5G E/. That’s all there is to it! After completing these steps, your iPhone will no longer try to connect to a 5G network (assuming one is available).
How to Turn off 5Ge on Iphone 8
If you’re not a fan of the new 5Ge network that’s popping up on some iPhones, you can turn it off. Here’s how:
1. Open the Settings app and tap Cellular.
2. Tap Cellular Data Options. 3. Tap Enable LTE and select Off. And that’s it!
Once you’ve turned off 5Ge, your iPhone will only connect to 4G LTE networks (which are still plenty fast).
How Do I Stop 5Ge Connection?
If you want to stop your 5Ge connection, there are a few things that you can do. One is to turn off your 5Ge modem or router. You can also unplug your 5Ge modem or router from the power outlet.
Finally, you can contact your service provider and ask them to disable your 5Ge service.
How Do I Change from 5Ge to Lte?
If you’re using an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE, or 7, you can change your cellular data connection from 5Ge to LTE. To do so:
1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
2. Tap the Cellular Data Options button. 3. Select Enable LTE and then select Voice & Data from the pop-up menu.
Why is My Phone Always on 5Ge?
If your phone is always on 5Ge, it’s most likely because you have a carrier that uses Verizon’s 5G network. Verizon has the largest 5G network in the United States, and they’re constantly expanding it. So, if you live in an area with good Verizon coverage, your phone will probably be on 5Ge most of the time.
There are a few other reasons why your phone might be stuck on 5Ge. If you have an older phone that doesn’t support LTE, it will only be able to connect to 5G networks that use lower frequencies (like Verizon’s). Or, if you live in an area with patchy coverage from multiple carriers, your phone may jump between different networks depending on which one has the strongest signal at any given moment.
But overall, if your phone is mostly connecting to 5Ge, it’s because Verizon has the best and most widespread 5G network in the US right now.
Why am I on 5Ge Instead of Lte?
If you’re on a 5G network, it’s because your carrier has rolled out the next generation of wireless technology in your area. 5G is faster and more responsive than LTE, so you should see a difference in performance. However, 5G coverage is still spotty, so you may not always be on the 5G network.
If you have an iPhone 11 or later, and you don’t want to use 5Ge, you can turn it off. Here’s how:
Open the Settings app.
Tap Cellular. Tap Cellular Data Options. Tap Voice & Data.
Select LTE (Off). Now when your iPhone connects to a 5G network, it will use LTE instead of 5G.
